For surfers
Our vehicles are four wheel drive. Especially in the wet season you may not get to the beaches you want in a two wheel drive. Even in the dry season a sedan or low truck may not give you the ground clearance you need. The majority of the roads in the coastal areas of Nicaragua are dirt roads, with besides dirt or mud, rocks and holes. The chance that you damage a lightweight suspension and/or steering is not imaginary. With one of our vehicles you are well prepared. Ask the hotel/lodge/cabin owner where you are planning to stay, what they recommend.
Our vehicles can be equipped with a roof rack. In the case of our Toyota Land Cruiser the rack is permanent, and the cost is included in the tariff. The roof rack of the Suzuki Jimny is optional, and its cost is additional.
In the case of the Toyota Land Cruiser your surf board may fit inside the vehicle. This depends on the combination of the number of seats you have in the vehicle and the length of your board(s). For example in the 3 seats version of the Land Cruiser 11 feet surf boards fit inside. Obviously this is quite useful.
In our Suzuki Jimny a 7 feet surf board fits inside, but then there is no space left for passengers, just for the driver. On its roof rack we would not fit surf boards longer than 8 feet, but that is up to you.
The roof rack of our Toyota Land Cruiser is a heavy duty one. A dozen surf boards are no problem at all for that rack. The rack of our Suzuki Jimny is a light weight one and carries up 25 kg. That limit is not just because of the rack, but also because of the Jimny's roof construction.
The Toyota Land Cruiser offers space for up to 13 persons in total. For reasons of comfort we do not recommend it for more than 10, though. The Suzuki Jimny offers 4 seats, but we do not recommend it for more than 3 adults. If you carry surf boards, you will probably need the Jimny's 4th seat for luggage anyway.
