Why four wheel drives? The reason that we exclusively work with four wheel drives is that their versatility and robustness are two indispensable qualities in Nicaragua.  Even the main roads are not always in good shape, but certainly it is not recommendable to go on one of the many dirt roads with a sedan.  Then the risk that the bottom of your car hits the soil is not imaginary.  A 4WD has lot more clearance and that is even in the dry season very useful. In the rainy season, from the middle of May till the middle of November (average weather condicions), puddles and creeks fill up with water and the chance that you strand somewhere with a 2WD is considerable.  That can even happen with a 4WD pickup though, when there is not enough weight on the wheels, especially the rear ones can lack grip.  That one of the reasons why we only have closed vehicles.  Another reason is that, although Nicaragua is one of the safest countries of Central America, you should not leave luggage in the back of a pickup unattended. If you come to Nicaragua looking for investment opportunities in real estate, you really need  a four wheel drive for exploring the coastal areas.  The same applies to surfers who are looking for the best beaches for surfing.  Nature lovers will need a 4x4 to visit the nature reserves, like the one on top of Mombacho volcano.  Or visit the unique island of Ometepe.  But you don't have to take our word for it.  Ask real estate brookers,  the people who run hotels at the beaches and the nature reserves. In short: with a 4WD you keep your options open.  It takes you wherever a vehicle can possibly go and allows you to enjoy your time in this country to the max. Furthermore, the passive safety of SUVs is in general much better than that of sedans.  That is no luxury if you drive at night time in Nicaragua. Then you not only have to watch for animals on the road, but as well for all kinds of vehicles, bicycles, wagons and so on without lights. Previous page        Top            Next page
